The retail scene in Toronto gets a makeover on the regular but shopping boroughs like Queen St. West remain the city’s most dependable locales. The strip, which has evolved into an interesting mix of trendy mass market retailers and cool independent shops, has become known for setting trends, so it’s no surprise that Quebec-based retailer NEON has chosen the destination as its first Toronto home.
Nestled beside American Apparel at 501 Queen St. West, the shop has a different feel than most shops on the block. Warm and homey, staff are approachable and friendly, and the store is stuffed to the brim.
Spray painted white sneakers hang from the ceiling and eclectic home furnishings are scattered across the store. Everything inside – from the vintage armoires to the light fixtures and the seating – are up for sale.
Stocking the best and brightest, the shop is the perfect showcase for the brands they feature. The store’s biggest asset is their enormous variety of stock, boasting one of the city’s biggest collections of Levi’s and Fjallraven.
And of course, coveted brands like Vans, Converse, Alpha Industries, adidas, and OBEY, are merchandised in every nook and cranny, making it a shopping destination that has something for everybody.
The large and well-edited collection reflects an edgy downtown aesthetic with pieces beautifully displayed and sourced from the streets of LA, NYC, Europe, and Asia.
With over 30 years in the business and 6 stores in Canada, NEON has mastered the art of cool. NEON is open seven days a week, Sunday through Friday 10am to 7pm and Saturday 11am to 5pm.
