If you’re in the mood to move but not in the mood to pay, there are plenty of free classes inside and outside to keep you fit. Not sure where to find these classes? Don’t sweat it. We’ve done all the heavy lifting in finding you the best places to improve your tree pose or to at least get your heart rate going. So, on your mark, get set, read!
Yoga
Free Yoga in High Park
What’s a better way to improve your yoga moves than while soaking in the sun? This weekly class takes place at the north end of High Park, just west of the Chess House Building. The classes run every Sunday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Each class style varies each week, and classes are taught by yogis from studios across the city. All levels are welcome and don’t worry about room, it’s High Park! There are over 100 participants, so try to get a seat closer to the front. High Park, Bloor St.
Lululemon Queen West Yoga and fitness classes
Lululemon offers a wide range of classes throughout the city. In this particular location, they offer a free fitness class every Tuesday from 8:00 pm to 9:00 pm that alternates from yoga, barre and pilates. Every class has a different teacher, so you never get the same workout twice. 342 Queen Street West.
Outdoor gyms
Fred Hamilton Outdoor Gym
When the weather is nice, the best thing you can do is go outside and enjoy it. The Fred Hamilton Outdoor Gym is located just on the west end of the city and is equipped with GreenGym outdoor fitness equipment, so it’s durable enough and made for all levels. 155 Roxton Road.
Running clubs
Running Room Run Club
Just about every location in the GTA offers a free “Run Club” every Wednesday at 6:00 pm to 6:30 pm, and for those early risers, Sundays at 8:30 am on a weekly basis. These clubs are open for all runners, from beginner to advance. There are several running groups that are sent out with pace group leaders to help encourage and guide you to become a better runner. Night Terrors Run Crew
Night Terrors Run Club (NTRC) is probably the most entertaining way to get your workout on. If you need to start your work out a bit later, this run club starts around 7:30 pm in Trinity Bellwoods Park. You literally run throughout the city, making stops along the way through festival spots, street art, funky buildings, nature trails and even food and drink spots. This club is open to all runners and is sure to keep your workout more exciting. Trinity Bellwoods.
Nike Run Club
Taking over Instagram and streets across the country, Nike offers a variety of different runs – from high-intensity speed to friendly paces – in burroughs across the city and lets runners log miles through their app. The runs happen a few times every week – but make sure to register first! The classes have a cult-like following and fill up quick.

Mountain Equipment Coop classes
On a weekly basis, MEC will offer up several classes for all ages on different nights of the week. From biking, running to just overall fitness, MEC provides an extensive range of classes that are all free in your area. Various locations.
Here to Create by adidas
From now until September, adidas Canada will host a free workout with Master Trainer, Julian Ho, every Thursday at 7:00 pm. The women-only classes (don’t worry, there’s a men’s series coming soon!) take place at Totum Life Science and feature a variety of different workout methods – from circuit training to yoga – to help get your sweat on. Registration opens a week before the class and book up quick! Make sure to sign-up early if you’re interested in trying these classes. 445 King St W.
Academy of Lions
If crossfit is more of your jam, head to the Academy of Lions Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 pm or Saturdays and Sundays at 3:00 pm. Their Community Class focuses on cardio, great form, bodyweight training and mobility, and are great for any fitness level. While the classes are completely free, you do need to register. 64 Ossington Ave.
